A goodbye letter to Naruto

Well, maybe not exactly a letter, but you know. 15 years, wow. And I was reading it for at least half that time, on and off. As little as I cared for it lately (the manga, not the character; Naruto himself will always be among my top favourite characters ever), I can't deny the impact this story has had on me. So, I guess, thank you, Kishi. Whatever drawbacks the ending has (and I haven't seen a single reaction post yet that would actually praise chapter 700!), it's still an ending, and if anything, it sees the fulfilment of the dream Naruto has had since the very beginning, not that we ever doubted it ;)

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland 1x09: Nothing To Fear

Well, hello. I knew OUAT was back, but it turns out I've missed the return of OUATiW last week. This episode was not bad, all things considered, though some story choices left me wondering.

Previously: 1x01, Pilot / 1x02, Trust Me / 1x03, Forget-Me-Not / 1x04, The Serpent / 1x05, Heart of Stone / 1x06, Who's Alice / 1x07, Bad Blood / 1x08, Home

Suspects 1x01 [reaction post]

Even as I'm typing this up I'm in doubt as to whether or not I should even bother. I'd never had any high hopes for this show and predictably I didn't like it very much. It's not a terrible show; it's just not my cup of tea. Very much so. But it's not without its redeeming qualities, I suppose, and besides, I've resigned myself to watching all kinds of weirdness that the Being Human actors take part in. XD

Thoughts on handling character screw-ups in TVD and BH

I'm so tired of stories that keep making excuses for a character just because he's the main character. Yes, The Vampire Diaries, I'm looking at you, mostly because it's the latest example, but pretty much any show does that. The main character is immune because he's the lead. Being Human sort of fell into that when they had Tom and Alex conveniently forget all of Hal's transgressions in the finale, but that could arguably be explained by the fact that it was a dream (at least if you take the DVD scene as canon, which of course I do. TVD keeps doing that pretty much with everyone, most of all Damon. Collapse )

Sherlock 3x01: The Empty Hearse

The two-year-long wait is finally over, and here's two Series 3! I must say I'm finding it a bit hard to put my thoughts and impressions into words here. I'd say I liked the episode overall, but I found it a bit... underwhelming? It's not necessarily a bad thing; at least it gives some food for thought and it's something I might want to rewatch later as well. Having seen it twice so far, I do have a few things I love and a few things I'd rather have them cut.
